Edinburgh Evening News September 2000 ( UK) Radiotones: Live at The Mercat, Edinburgh Take a buzzing club atmosphere in a cramped basement and chuck in several bands with completely different musical styles – rap, blues and rock. Who would have thought it would make a winning combination? Opening act out by Degrees are…. …After OBD, anything else was going to seem tame by comparison. Anything else except Radiotones, that is. Dave Arcari pounds his steel National guitars and spits out his vocal acrobatics with Adriaan paterson thumping his bass guitar, while talented Jim Harcus makes his harmonica swoop-, chuck and screech like a dive-bomber. Garage blues meets punk. The result is a fearsome stream of boot-stomping numbers during which the charismatic Arcari looked in danger of smashing his way through the stage. 4/5 Drew McAdam
