Guitar Magazine January 2004 ( UK) Radiotones– Bound to Ride Who'd ever have thunk that da blooze - forever underground and underpaid - would be reinvented in the new century in 'alt.blues' form served up to hip young things clad in vintage denim with Hoxton fin haircuts? Scotland's Radiotones aren't about to scorn the chance. Formed some six years ago as an acoustic trio by National steel slide player Dave Arcari, they've now expanded to quartet form with electric bass and manic rockabilly drums, and this album shows they do that deeply messed-up train boogie thing very well indeed. There's no fleet-finger twiddlage on this album, just blasting bottleneck riddims topped of by honking harp and Arcari's scary Captain Beefheart vocal impersonation. It's the original blues message – drink, be merry, fall over. Hurrah!
